Member Firm

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Alabama (ACEC Alabama) is the Member Organization of the national federation of the American Council of Engineering Companies, representing private consulting engineering and land surveying firms across Alabama. Its membership is composed of firms that provide professional engineering, architectural, surveying, and related consulting services to public and private clients. Below is a detailed overview of the definition and the benefits associated with joining ACEC Alabama.

MEMBER FIRM

Member firms of ACEC Alabama are independent professional consulting engineering or land surveying companies that:

  • Are legally authorized to practice engineering, or professional land surveying services in the State of Alabama.
  • Maintain at least one principal or licensed professional engineer, or licensed land surveyor registered in Alabama.
  • Maintain a Certificate of Authorization issued by the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (BELS).
  • Offer consulting services to public and private clients on a qualifications-based-selection (QBS) basis in disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental, geotechnical, transportation, or other engineering or land surveying specialties.
  • Commit to uphold the ACEC Code of Ethics and professional standards of practice.
  • Support the mission of ACEC Alabama to advance the business interests of our Member Firms and promote the value of private-sector expertise in shaping Alabama’s infrastructure and economy.

Membership is firm-based, meaning all principals and employees of the firm may participate in ACEC Alabama programs, committees, and events.

An Associate Member of ACEC/Alabama is made up of sole proprietors, firms, subsidiaries and organizations that provide professional services of a scientific and or technical nature that complement the services provided by our Member Firms.

Advancing the Engineering Profession in Alabama – Your membership in ACEC/Alabama provides excellent opportunities to expose your products and services to engineers in Alabama, while developing a more diverse forum for advancing the profession in Alabama.

ACEC/Alabama’s Mission – The purpose of ACEC/Alabama is to improve the practice of engineering and to achieve recognition for the engineering profession by supporting responsible governmental/legislative action, improving business practices through education, and enhancing the profession’s image through effective public relations.  


DUES: Annual Cost of Membership - $500 per year. (Fiscal Year: June 1st – May 31st, dues billed quarterly.)
