Who We Are
The American Council of Engineering Companies is the business voice of America’s engineering industry. We represent nearly 6,000 firms employing more than 600,000 engineers, architects, land surveyors, highly trained specialists, and licensed professionals who design and improve our world.
ACEC is a federation consisting of 51 state and regional Member Organizations, advocating for policies at the federal, state, and local level that promote economic growth and improve the quality of life for every American.
ACEC’s primary tools are advocacy, education, and research. Our political arm, ACEC/PAC, is the largest PAC in the built environment with more than $2 million raised per cycle. We offer hundreds of online and in-person webinars, training programs, and educational sessions annually. We generate industry-leading research and insights through the ACEC Research Institute and host the industry’s leading awards program, the annual Engineering Excellence Awards.
Our Mission
ACEC’s mission is to strengthen the business environment for our Member Firms through advocacy, promoting public awareness, improving business and professional practices, and providing effective member programs and services.
Our Vision
A council of engineering companies, working collaboratively for the benefit of society, our communities, and the profession we serve while promoting the business interests of Member Firms.
History of ACEC Alabama
A State Member Organization of the American Council of Engineering Companies, ACEC/Alabama is a proactive engineering council of private practice companies representing every discipline of engineering related to the built environmental, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical and affiliated companies. We are a diverse group of consulting engineering firms from across Alabama, ranging from sole proprietors to multinational corporations that collectively employ thousands locally and globally. Our shared goals are to further the business interests of our membership, enhance the quality and safety of the environment we live and work in, and help ensure the vitality of our communities.
Since its founding in 1956, the Council has been true to its mission: to be the leading advocate in Alabama for consulting engineers and to enhance the image of business practices of professional engineering companies. Boasting a membership of the most elite consulting engineering firms and its industry allies throughout the state, ACEC/Alabama is a highly focused group that lobbies, advocates, educates, networks, to advance and to protect the interests of its Member Firms.
